Smith Mountain Lake has some beautiful wineries!
I will start my list with the three wineries that are closest to the lake:
Hickory Hill Vineyards
This beautiful vineyard is located in Moneta just minutes from the lake. It is the oldest winery at Smith Mountain Lake, followed closely behind by several others. It is owned by Roger Furrow and operated by Wendy and Donald Furrow-Scott.

They are open for tastings and picnics and have plenty of outside seating and limited covered seating in case of rain.

Next up is this absolutely beautiful vineyard with unique offerings like Wine & Cigar pairings. Ramulose Ridge Vineyards is the premier wedding venue of Smith Mountain Lake. The vineyard features a 2,200 square-foot event space with large windows offering picturesque views.

Brooks Mill Winery (Temporarily closed as of 1/23/24 - Call before you go!)
This is a family owned and operated winery offering award-winning fruit wines. It is operated by H.T. and Rhonda Page and is just minutes from the Westlake Corner.
The vineyard began in 2006 with blackberries and they have expanded each year, adding blueberries, pears, apples, peaches, and cherries. From dry dinner wines to sweet dessert wines, Brooks Mill has a wine for you.

Peaks of Otter Winery
Depending on where you are at the late it is about a 30-60 minute drive to this beautiful winery. You can bring a picnic lunch and enjoy a bottle of wine at one of the many outdoor tables.
They have sample flights available where you can try all eight of their wines or grab a cold bottle with glasses and spread out on their lovely grounds. Apple cider donuts are available while they last!

The Homeplace Vineyard
Depending on where you are at the lake, this vineyard is between a 30-60 minute drive. The Homeplace Vineyard offers a selection of wines that will appeal to every palette in a lovely atmosphere.
Their tasting room is open for tasting and wine flights and they have fun events like “Flip-Flop Night” and “Sippin’ Saturday." Click here for their events page for more information.

This winery is about an hour away from the lake in Bent Mountain, VA. AmRhein is a German name meaning “on the Rhein” (Rhine) River. AmRhein’s Wine Cellars is a Virginia family owned and operated, 100% estate-grown winery, specializing in wines with a German influence.
AmRhein is the 63rd winery in Virginia. The vineyards were first planted in 1995 with their first "crush" occurring in 1999. The winery opened in 2000 with a Viognier.
They offer wine tastings and bottle sales.
